MISSION

MCRA’s mission is to promote, facilitate and support the activities, operations and training of agencies and response teams that are involved in critical incident management.

ANNUAL AWARD 2008

During its 20th anniversary Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) training conference held a the Kettenun Center in Tustin, Michigan, the Michigan Crisis Response Association awarded its annual Responder of the Year award to the Reverend Mark Johnston on September 22, 2008. Reverend Johnston has served as a member of the Lenawee County CISM Team for 10 years. He was nominated for his outstanding contributions to the work of crisis response in the State of Michigan throughout this past year. For the past 12 years, Reverend Johnston has served as a minister at the Hudson Methodist Church. He and his family have now accepted a call to serve as minister of the Chesaning Methodist Church. In addition to his CISM service, Reverend Johnston began his career as an EMT/firefighter with the Irish Hills Fire Department. He was director of the Judson Collins Methodist Camp in Irish Hills and served as an EMT with the Hudson Area Ambulance for 11 years.

TEAM WORK

The Michigan Crisis Response Association is a cooperative effort of crisis response teams throughout the State. There are approximately 50 teams in Michigan whose membership is comprised of individuals from law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services, hospital staff, and educators as well as mental health professionals and clergy. The MCRA and it’s annual conference provide training for individuals and team members, further the development of new teams, and provide support for established teams.
